UPLOAD YOUR ARTWORK
Upload Files
Using this form you can place an order by
uploading your own artwork.
IMPORTANT - The prices on our web
site are for "print ready" artwork. To ensure your file is "print
ready" please review the following and complete the checklist before
uploading your files.
-
FILE FORMAT - We can only accept
the following file formats: PDF or JPEG.
The majority of the graphic manipulation tools will allow you to
save your artwork in one of those formats.
There are also tools that allow you to print to a PDF file from
almost any other program. Adobe Distiller is the well known
commercial version, but there are also free or shareware versions
available. Two of the most popular are PDF995 and AcroPDF.
-
FILE SIZE - The maximum size of a
file you can upload to our web site is 15MB. If your art is larger
than this, you can upload it to our FTP site. If you need this
service please contact us at help@designerprinter.com
-
COLOUR FORMAT - Files must be
CMYK for colours to print accurately. (RGB, Pantone, or spot colours
will cause colour shifts during printing).
-
ARTWORK SIZE - Please refer to
file dimension requirements when preparing your file.
All products are trimmed down by 1.8mm (5 points) on all sides;
therefore the file dimensions needs to be 3.6mm (10 points) larger
than the final trimmed product.
-
BLEED - Please include 1.8mm
bleed on all required artwork. Though the trim is 1.8mm, we
recommend that any text or graphics be at least 5mm away from the
edges to avoid being cut close to the edge after trimming.
-
DO I NEED BLEED ON MY FILE? -
Bleed is the term for colours, lines, backgrounds, etc. that are
meant to go all the way to the edge of a product. For example, if
you want your business cards entirely blue, that means your card has
"bleed" and you should create your design with the blue going all
the way to the edges ("bleeding off") of your design. Failing to
bleed the background will result in white strips on the sides of
your final product.
-
ILLUSTRATOR USERS - To avoid
having to send us fonts, you must convert all your text to outlines
with outlines set at zero.
-
CREATING PDFS - When creating
your PDF Please make sure you create a PDF properly to ensure best
quality results. When creating your PDF from a program, select the
print option from the menu (do not simply SAVE AS...) then select
Adobe PDF as your "printer", make sure the setting are as follows:
1)The Adobe PDF page size is the same size as your artwork (for
example, your business card PDF needs to be 89mm x 55mm. If you
simply create a PDF of your card on an A4 PDF sheet, we will not be
able to print your files).
2) The Default Setting you should select is "press quality".
-
FOLDING - Use our
tri-fold brochure guidelines that will help you determine where
the folds will fall. If you would like guidelines for other types of
folds, contact us.
-
MAILED POSTCARDS - When planning
on uploading your own artwork for mailed postcards, please ensure
compliancy with the Royal Mail Postal Service regulations. Please
